1 My first artifact shows the first ever battle of WWI. The battle of Marne. All the men were in uniform heading and ready for war with their down. I chose this because I thought it was important to incorporate moods of before the war first battle opposed to the last battle. Also the image shows how nervous they're going into battle. Without knowing how difficult the next six days will be. September 6-12,1914 the French attacked the Germans west army pushing them even more west causing a 30 mile gap between the Germans first and second army.
This is the commander in chief of France celebrating France’s success, “Everywhere the enemy has left on the field numerous wounded and a quantity of munitions. Everywhere we have made prisoners while gaining ground. Our troops bear witness to the intensity of the fight, and the means employed by the Germans in their endeavors to resist our élan. The vigorous resumption of the offensive has determined our success”, (General Joseph Jofre, Records of the Great war )

My second artifact shows the Last ever battle of WWI. This battle was fought by the British against the Ottoman empire. The commander in chief of the Mesopotamian front was ordered to remove any left Ottoman from the front and in doing so those Ottoman attacked but the Indians helped the British therefore it was a victory for the British. The reason I chose this image was not because of the last actions that played out in the last battle of the war. The soldiers in the image give a tone of relief knowing the war is over comparing again the first and last battle of the war showing the tone difference.

The third artifact I chose was “No Mans Land”. I chose this image of no mans land because it expresses clearly how dangerous No mans land was in WWI. The metaphorical space trembling place where soldiers would beneath the surface of the ground. No man's land was between the opposing armies trench's and all you could hear from the trenches were unbearable cries. "Men drowning in shell-holes already filled with decaying flesh," . (No Man's Land by Lucien Jonas, 1927, Library of Congress)

For my fourth artifact of WWI I chose a Technological advancement. Poison Gas. I chose this image because it is showing how soldiers later then would start to make a gas mask out of anything. The poison gas in WWI wasn’t as successful. The opposing armies would disperse it into the trench's. The poison was also unsuccessful due to cold weather freezing the gas.

My fifth and final artifact is propaganda for war Bonds. For wwI the message that was trying to get americans to support their Husbands in the war. I chose this image beucase of how clearly the ad is about the need to buy bonds to support the troops.
